Introduction

In February of 2007, I auditioned for Stan Lee’s television reality show, “Who wants to be a Super Hero?” which was in its second season at that time, on the Sci-Fi channel.

Being I am owned by nine rescued cats, the cat persona just seemed the natural choice for me. No, I am not Catwoman. PurrKayla is my own creation. Her character is that of a shape-shifter from the planet Catonia, who crash landed on Earth.

Auditioning for the show was amazing and it is something I will never forget or regret doing!

But what happened next is, what I believe to be, the real reason PurrKayla is still around. Even 3 years after that audition.

So what happened? One word - kids. The children at the mall that day were amazing. They touched my heart. Here I was, basically nobody, being welcomed into the Super Hero world by those whose imagination takes them in to it every day. Oh I was extensively questioned by even the youngest of them, lol, but I was also accepted by them as well. :)

When one little girl handed me a piece of paper for an autograph, and I heard her mother use the words "role model," I knew I found who I wanted to be. I knew I had to go forward from that day and try to make a difference in someone's life.
